Description
The 2023 Ernest Pinot Noir displays a vibrant ruby-red hue. The nose opens with wild strawberry, and sour cherry, complemented by sophisticated notes of Earl Grey tea, and distinctive fynbos herbs. A silky entry with soft tannins evolves into a pleasantly grippy finish, while fresh pomegranate and sour cherry flavours are supported by savoury notes and vibrant acidity. This fresher expression of Pinot Noir shows excellent balance and ageing potential.

About this company
Hasher Family Estate is a family-owned farm in South Africa’s sought after Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Founded by the Herten-Haspeslagh family, the farm represents the coming together of centuries of European farming heritage with a lifelong passion for Africa. Run by a young and passionate team, the farm proudly produces exceptional wines that celebrate the cool maritime climate and unique soil the area has become known for. Planted on decomposed granite and clay soils, our vineyards benefit from the cooling influence of the South Atlantic Ocean, barely 5 kilometers away. We want the character of our grapes to tell the story of our terroir and therefore believe in growing only the cultivars that truly flourish in the area, resulting in a focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. We’ve also introduced regenerative agriculture principles and winter pruning techniques to further improve the quality of the fruit. This year, we’ve officially moved away from chemical fertilizers and herbicides.
