This property is all about family, where the passion and the love of good wine have been passed on for 6 generations. Aurélie and Alexandre PEUCH-RABOUTET are now in charge of keeping the family wine-making traditions alive while bringing their technical skills, experiences and savoir-faire mastered in France as well as overseas. This enable them to make a high quality wine. Indeed, the wines won several awards in prestigious tasting awards and have been recommended in wine guides such as Le Point, or the Hachette Wine Guide for several years now. Willing to have as little as possible impact on the environment, the property has taken a sustainable direction by joining the “Bordeaux Wine Environmental System Association”. In 2018 the vineyard has been officially certified as HEV (High environmental value). Château Groleau, Côtes-de-Bourg Bought in 1852 by one of the family ancestor, Jacques Rochet, a ship constructor, The Château overlooks the 18 hectares of its ideally exposed vineyard. Its closeness to the Gironde river guarantees the quality of the clay gravel soil to express itself completely. The wines, based on Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon varietals, know how to intrigue the connoisseurs: lively, aromatic, with a complex structure and a very specific character brough by the Malbec grape and an oak-aging. To reveal the varietal’s full potential, we even created a new cuvée, the Cōt a Cōtes, a 100% Malbec. Château Le Chay, Blaye - Côtes de Bordeaux Jean Raboutet, wine trader, purchased the 20ha vineyard in 1897. Its soil, composed of clayey limestone, gives a fruity wine, rounded and well-structured on the palate. Aged in oak barrels, the wine can be kept for decades, allowing the tannins to soften over the years. Other highlights of the Château : A Dry white wine, 100% Sauvignon, its citrus aroma pairs subtly with seafood and fish. A Sweet white wine, perfect to be served as aperitif, with foie gras, cheese or desserts. A Fruity rosé wine, a cheerful wine, to be served chilled under the fine sunny days. Welcome to Bordeaux: Located in a beautiful area, close to major heritage and cultural sites on the Gironde estuary, Aurelie and her husband Alexandre welcome each visitor with glad wholeheartedly. Since Didier and Sylvie are now retired, the 6th generation is taking over the long family history and following the tradition.
