New England Wine & Spirits, Inc. was founded in 1983 by Richard Eriksen and Michael O'Hara. These two industry veterans built the New England Wine & Spirits with a heavy emphasis on importing. Many of their wines were exclusively imported and distributed by New England Wine & Spirits both locally and nationally. In the 1990's, New England Wine & Spirits' portfolio expanded to include many world renowned wines such as Bogle, Barefoot, Wente and Seghesio. With the increase in sales and brands, the company moved to North Haven, CT to double the size of warehouse and office space in 2004. In 2006, New England Wine & Spirits was purchased by Anthony and Elizabeth Gallo. With the infusion of capital, technology and new management, the company experienced great growth in both the distribution and import sides of the business. With a more focused management style, led by Anthony J. Gallo, the company outgrew its original facility and was relocated to a temperature controlled, 48,000 square foot warehouse. Today, NEWS is one of the largest of the independent wholesalers of fine wine in CT including multi items from over 23 wineries in 7 countries.
