The wine: I’m Purple Turtle, Tuscan progeny of Time and Temperance. Heralded in Monterinaldi in the purlieus of Radda in Chianti, I have come of age to be with You. I’ve Kept a pace ahead of myself, but I’ve always caught up with the truth, from pruning time till time with You.
- Grapes: 55% Sangiovese, 45% Merlot
- Appellation: Toscana IGT
- Place: Radda in Chianti (SI)
- Alcohol: 14,5% Vol.
- Harvest: by machine
- Winemaking: in concrete vats with 20-day maceration on the skins
- Aging: 12 months in concrete vats
- Bottles year: /year: 6000
- Packaging: 6 or 12 bottles cases
Tasting notes: Intense ruby red color, by the nose it shows a deep sensation of small black fruits with notes of wild blackberry and blueberry. It has a medium body, it’s enveloping and the pleasant softness of the Merlot is well balanced by the typical acidity of Sangiovese. Silky tannins are very well integrated. Nice sensations of ripe fruit and slight memories of wet soil.
Food prings: Serve at room temperature with chicken or young/medium aged cheeses, but even on its own as an aperitif.

Castello Monterinaldi is an estate of fifty hectares under organic management, mainly Sangiovese, in Radda in Chianti, heart of Chianti Classico DOCG area. Founded in the 60s and owned by the same family, since 2012 has begun an important zoning project which has led to the division of the company into 17 micro zones that are vinified separately. The winery logo is the Turtle because it symbolizes constant progress, tenacity and long life, so much so that the commercial claim is "slow and steady". Main production is Chianti Classico DOCG, Riserva DOCG and the Cru “Vigneto Boscone”, together with a 100% Sangiovese Spumante Brut and the surprising “The Purple Turtle” Toscana IGT.
