Winemaking process
The grapes are picked by hand. They are sorted first at the plot, and then again upon arrival at the cellar. The bunches are cooled before pressing to preserve aromas and color. The Syrah and Vermentino varieties, which reached optimum maturity at the same time, were blended in the press. Only the free run juice was kept in alcoholic fermentation. The Mourvèdre, which matured later, was vinified in 600 liter and 15 hectoliters oak casks, and then aged for two months on fine lees. This particularity for a rosé wine brings complexity and originality to the final blend. The Terre des Anges rosé is a rich and elegant wine worthy of the world’s most beautiful tables.
Tasting notes
- The robe is elegant and ranslucent.
- Powerful and complex nose favored by barrel fermentation.
- Aromas of red fruits (strawberry) are enhanced by subtle peach notes.
- Robust on the palate with generous red fruits and a nice softness. It strikes a fine balance between rich and ethereal.
- The recommanded storage period is 1-2 years.
Some feedback
With a dominance of Syrah and Mouvèdre, this is a rich, structured rosé. It has a strong character of ripe, juicy red fruits, as well as intense, tangy and refreshing acidity. The wine will be best in a few months, so wait until late 2020. - ROGER VOSS, editor at the Wine Enthusiast, may 2020. (vintage 2019).
The 2019 Coteaux d’Aix en Provence Rose Terre des Anges is 70% Syrah, 20% Mourvèdre and 10% Vermentino (Rolle). That’s unusual for Provence rosé, but it makes for a pale pink wine that combines crushed stone, floral notes, red berries and citrus. It’s medium-bodied on the palate, with ample concentration, intense flavors that follow the nose, a silky feel on the palate and a lingering finish. This is clearly one of the best rosés to come out of the appellation, from one of the top estates in the Coteaux d’Aix. - JOE CZERWINSKI, may 2020.

About this company
In an exceptional setting, between the Sainte Victoire mountain and the Luberon, the Château Paradis vineyards stretch over 80 hectares in the heart of Provence, at the extreme north of the Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence, in the commune of Puy-Sainte-Réparade. The estate boasts an exceptional range of terroirs that the various owners have been able to bring out over the years. Since 2011, Xavier and Odile Thieblin, who are attached to their Provençal roots, have been determined to add value to the estate and to strive for excellence. With the support of Michel Tardieu and Philippe Cambie, highly-regarded oenologists in the Rhône Valley, our team produces exceptional wines that reflect the authenticity and particularity of our terroir. Driven by a love of our craft, we strive to create unforgettable wine tourism experiences allowing visitors to discover both the vines and the wines.
Through our wines we wish, above all, to represent our identity and present you with the soul of our terroir. We therefore do everything we can to highlight the specific characteristics of our terroir and the different varieties of vines that grow there. Our team’s dedicated work in the vineyards allows us to harvest grapes at perfect maturity which only need to express their potential in the cellar during the winemaking process. It is through respecting this work, supported by Michel Tardieu and Philippe Cambie, that we are able to bring you wines with a terroir identity, the fruit of our painstaking endeavours. In the quest for a sustainable viticulture, we adopted a “reasoned” approach to wine growing. Our soils are carefully maintained to boost microbial life. The wine growing practices used are carried out with meticulous precision to obtain quality grapes.
