Redemption Whiskey Brand Adds Its First Wheated Bourbon
Redemption Whiskey Brand recently introduced Redemption Wheated Bourbon, expanding this brand for the first time into wheated bourbon.
Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits, even as it faces down a lawsuit from spirits giant Diageo over accusations its revised Redemption Whiskey bottles copied the Bulleit look, continues to move forward with new releases under the Redemption product line. It recently introduced Redemption Wheated Bourbon, expanding this brand for the first time into wheated bourbon.
Redemption Whiskey is normally known for sourcing rye whiskey and bourbon with high rye content. Its new Wheated Bourbon, however, goes into another bourbon category, instead delivering an expression whose mash bill consists of 45 percent winter wheat, 51 percent corn, and 4 percent malted barley. This high wheat mix is said not to be typical practice in the industry, where it is more common for wheat-forward bourbons to have between 20% and 30% of the grain in the mash bill.
“The release of our Redemption Wheated Bourbon represents the first in a series of limited production expressions that we will bring to market over the next few years,” said Tom Steffanci, President of Deustch Family Wine & Spirits, in a prepared statement. “The wheat and corn in the Wheated Bourbon combine to create a complex, unique and delicious whiskey.”
This whiskey, aged four years in new oak barrels, is bottled at 96 proof and will price around $46. Official tasting notes you’ll find for it below. It joins in the Redemption line up Redemption Rye, Redemption Bourbon, Redemption High Rye Bourbon and some Limited Edition Aged Barrel Proof selections.
