Kavalan's latest bottle comes with a king's crown cap

It's the evolution of a business and an ambitious journey from household goods, orchids and childhood education to the coffee, the beer and whiskey, and this year even at restaurants and bars.

And that's the story today in a new 1500 ml Kavalan whiskey, the single malt "King Car Group 40th Anniversary", to mark this grand anniversary of Kavalan's parent company.

Already available in Taiwan, the latest special edition of Kavalan - which elegantly combines the creamy richness of toffee and the intense sweetness of black fruit notes - will be offered in some countries around the world in 2020.

Kavalan is not in a position to divulge the exact cask in which this extraordinary and tasty whiskey has matured: all it can say is that it is a very exclusive red wine cask of world-class.

CEO, YT Lee, said that, as the only other whiskey to be launched on behalf of the group, the "King Car Conductor", the 40th Anniversary Limited Edition was multidimensional, complex and very deep as appropriate.

"I am very happy to be part of this journey that was started by my father four decades ago. King Car has always strived to deliver the highest quality - a pursuit that defines our character - and this insistence on excellence will continue in the future, "says YT Lee.

Master blender Ian Chang explained that he had made a whiskey to celebrate an important milestone.

"It was matured in a very rare red wine barrel, whose majesty gave it a richly intense whiskey, offering distinctive berry flavors and lush toffee," Chang explains.

Mr. Chang explained that the package paid tribute to Yilan County, which is in faith in the stronghold of Kavalan and President Mr. TT Lee, with the shape of the Snow Mountain - the source of water from Kavalan.

The smooth but solid shape of the bottle expresses elegance and strength. Its crown-shaped cap is decorated with crystals from the world-famous Swarovski®. Persistence and durability, and harmony with the natural environment are embodied in the leather and wood of the box.

The King Car 40th Anniversary is offered with crystal glass and is limited to 10,000 copies worldwide.

Tasting notes: 

  • Color: royal auburn
  • Nose: powerful and dense with rich notes of red wine from black cabernet sauvignon, with strawberry, blueberry, spices, and hints of freshly burned oak.
  • Palate: thick, with long layers of rich toffee berries, enhanced by notes of spice, especially pepper, clove and tobacco, all with a superb winey character.
  • Final note: long and sensual, with a sweet blend of fruits and sweet spices.
