Totally obviously inspired by our article on hot/heated and mulled beers and ciders, Imperial Bottle Shop & Taproom will open the GlüBar Pop-Up at their Northeast Portland Alberta St. location on Wednesday, December 16th. What is Glü ? It’s the historic annual tradition of mulling wine, cider, beer or liquor as a comforting winter warmer to get us through these chilly times.

Glühwein, or wine mulled with spices, has been a favorite of shoppers at German & Austrian Christmas markets for years. To bring its warmth to Portland, Imperial Bottle Shop & Taproom is producing a GlüBar pop-up at their small sidewalk parklet outside of the NE Alberta Street taproom and bottle shop. The pop-up is set to run until the end of 2020 on Wednesdays through Fridays from 4-10pm ish and Saturday and Sunday from noon-10ish at 2006 NE Alberta St.

“The holidays just seem to lack that certain magic this year with COVID and our country so divided,” says owner Alex Kurnellas. “So we really just want to bring a little holiday charm and sense of community to our little corner of the world. Be the ‘gluh’ that binds us together, so to say.”
