LABEL STORY: These are our blended wines; bold, unconventional & unapologetic. The Tooth & Nail labels are John James Audubon originals; beasts of the early 1830s fighting “Tooth & Nail” to survive. Here Audubon depicts two Red Tailed Hawks fighting to become the sole POSSESSOR.
VINEYARD: Tolliver Ranch Bordered by the Estrella river in Paso Robles, Tolliver Ranch features welldrained, sandy-gravely soils that are acidic due to the presence of decomposed granite, unlike most soil profiles in the Paso Robles region. Conditions at the site are ideal for big red vineyard's soils, and utilize the long growing season. The combination of terroir and a slow and steady growing ripening season builds complexity of flavors in the wine.
WINEMAKER’S TASTING NOTES: Bright and pure aromas of cassis, black currant and black cherry with subtle notes of violet, vanilla and spice, lift from the glass. Flavors of fresh red fruit grace the palate, while spice notes of integrated French Oak, give the wine finesse and depth. The fullness and weight on the mid palate is lush and refined and balances well with the natural acidity and smooth tannins.
