This isn’t your typical big-boy Chardonnay. Our small-batch, single-vineyard winery crafts a curiously crisp and delicate California chardonnay that will make your clambake food sing a little louder (and cut through that butter, too). It’s light-bodied styling rings true to Old World conventions while its New World roots shine through with beautiful fruit and zest, producing a lighter and crisper expression of chardonnay than most California wineries. But lest we forget, chardonnay is still king, so there is still enough body and richness to stand up to those lobsters staring ‘atcha. I guess you could say chardonnay traded in his crown for flip-flops this evening.

Clambake Chardonnay - Batch #3

Varietal: 100% 2014 Single-Vineyard Chardonnay

Vineyard: Mulvaney & Meigs Vineyard, Potter Valley, Mendocino, California

Fermentation: Stainless Steel, non-malolactic, 10% sur lie

Tasting Notes: A nose of lemon curd, lemon candy, slate, and green apple is confirmed on the palate but with some added zest and minerality. A round and waxy-rich finish from sur lie contact will delight those expecting a fuller-bodied white wine after they’re pleasantly surprised by the crispness.
