Selendi Wines

Selendi Vineyards is located in the picturesque valley of Sarnickoy, high above the ancient and storied town of Akhisar in Western Turkey. Akın Ongor began Selendi as a passion project with a simple mission: produce great wines reflecting the distinctive flavors of the land to share with friends and family. That passion remains our driving force today as we expand production of Turkey's first fully estate-bottled wine to bring our wines to an international audience. 

In the Second Millenium BC the Hittites flourished in the region, planting vineyards and launching the region's tradition of winemaking. That ancient pedigree underpins Turkey's strong claim to being one of wine's ancient birthplaces.

Sarnickoy's breathtaking terrain of rolling hills and rocky escarpments is more than 800 Meters (2,600 feet) above sea level. The soil and climate are ideal: limestone and loamy soil watered by cooling breezes from the Aegean Sea. A microclimate characterized by sharp temperature drops at night--a perfect terroir for cultivating complex grapes with character.

We currently produce 80,000 bottles, with plans to increase it to 120,000 bottles in 5 years, of 100% organic, estate-bottled and minimal intervention wines with renowned winemaker Andrea Paoletti from Florence, famous for his work at Masseto wines. Our portfolio is award winning, well balanced, approachable and complex in character.
