Ozalder Crianza 2020 Red

  • Designation of origin Navarre
  • Varieties:  Tempranillo, Merlot and Syrah
  • Ageing: 12 months in French oak barrels
  • Grade: 14.5%

Vineyards: The grapes come from our own vineyards, which are located in the central area of Navarre, specifically in the Tierra Estella sub-area. This area is characterized by very mild temperatures and very moderate rainfall, which favors the slow ripening of the grapes. Thus, they acquire the optimum degree and an excellent polymerization of phenolic and aromatic compounds, keeping some of the acidity that enhances the freshness and longevity of this wine.

Preparation: Harvest at night, in order to avoid as much as possible, the oxidation of polyphenols and aromatic precursors of the grapes. After a cold maceration of several days, the fermentation begins, in which it is controlled with special care during the picking up, producing daily the breaking of the cap to extract from the finest tannins that give rise to the structure of this great wine. Malolactic fermentation is done in co-inoculation with alcoholic fermentation. After that, the wine passes to French oak barrels and finishes its aging up to 12 months.

Wine tasting: Wine with a medium-high layer of colour and elegant “Picota” cherry tone. On the nose it stands out for its harmony between fruit and wood, with a predominance of ripe black fruit (cranberry, blueberry and cherry) and the spicy touch of French oak, with hints of leather, smoked and roasted. On the palate it is greasy, oily, with a very polished tannicity and a pronounced aftertaste of liquorice. Overall, it is a wine that harmonizes toasted and spicy touches of French wood with ripe fruit, both on the nose and on the palate. Its ending is long.  __________________________________ 

Ozalder Limited Edition 2018 Red

  • Ageing: 15 months in French oak barrels
  • Grade: 14.5%

Vineyards: The grapes come from our own vineyards, located in the villages of Larraga and Oteiza, in the middle region of Navarre. This area is known for its temperate temperature and moderate rainfall, ideal for the slow ripening of the grapes, which results in an excellent polymerization of phenolic and aromatic compounds.

Preparation: The harvest is done at night, completely avoiding the oxidation of polyphenols and aromatic precursors of the grapes. After several days of cold maceration, the fermentation process begins. We carefully control the picking and delestages, breaking the cap to extract the finest tannins, which give rise to the structure of this great wine. This wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in co-inoculation with alcoholic fermentation. Immediately after that, the wine is stored in our French oak foudre, where it is aged for fifteen months.

Wine tasting: This wine has a medium-high layer, maintaining after aging a good intensity of colour and a beautiful cherry hue. Its nose is characterized by the intensity of aromas of ripe fruit, mainly black fruit (blackberry, cassis and plum). There are also spicy notes, which are combined with the flavours of roasted coffee and cocoa that blend perfectly with the ripe fruit, giving complexity to this wine, which also enhances the perfect blending resulting from the blending of its two varieties. At the mouth the result is a structured wine, but silky and fat, with well-polished tannins and a strong liquorice taste, which combines with the roasting and the leather of the wood. The finish of the mouth is long and persistent.  __________________________________ 

Ozalder Red Oak Roble 2021

  • Ageing: 4 months in French oak barrels
  • Grade: 14,5%

Vineyards: The grapes come from our own vineyards located in the central area of Navarre, specifically in the Tierra Estella sub-area. This area is characterized by very mild temperatures and very moderate rainfall, which favors the slow ripening of the grapes. Thus, they acquire the optimum degree and an excellent polymerization of phenolic and aromatic compounds, keeping part of the acidity that enhances the freshness of this wine.

Preparation: These grapes have been harvested at night, in order to avoid as much as possible any kind of oxidation. After a cold maceration of several days, the fermentation begins, which is carefully controlled with special care in the picking up to extract the finest tannins that give rise to the structure that this wine needs. Like the rest of our wines, malolactic fermentation is carried out in co-inoculation with alcoholic fermentation. When fermentation is finished, the wine is placed in French oak barrels, where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and finishes its aging for about 4 months. In this case, the oak barrels have a medium toast, since the aim of this wine of medium aging is to maintain the fruity aroma of the wine and not the spicy aroma of the aging.

Wine tasting: Wine with a medium layer of colour and cherry hue. On the nose it stands out for its complexity which highlights the floral aromas and the intensity of the aroma of ripe red fruit (strawberry, cherry and blackberry). This aroma comes from the behaviour of the Merlot variety in a terroir like ours. In the mouth it stands out for its volume, filling the mouth completely, being sweet for its fruity flavour with a strong aftertaste of liquorice, which makes it very pleasant and invites to drink.  _________________________________ 

Ozalder Blanco White 2022

  • Varieties: Viura/Macabeo, Sauvignon Blanc y Chardonnay
  • Grade: 13%

Vineyards: The grapes come from our own vineyards, located in the middle area of Navarre, specifically in Larraga. This region is known for its mild temperatures and moderate rainfall, ideal for slow ripening of the grapes. These vineyards are dry land not irrigated, therefore the level of production is not high, which allows us to get a good ripening. This process produces grapes that have more aromatic strength.

Preparation: The harvest is done at night, completely avoiding the oxidation of polyphenols and aromatic precursors of the grapes. After a careful cleaning of the must, carried out with flotation techniques, fermentation begins in ovoid tanks. These special deposits by biodynamics, keep the lees in suspension, which results in an increase in volume and fat in the mouth. Controlled fermentation at temperatures of 12 to 14 ºC favours the extraction of aromas.

Wine tasting: This wine has a very clear and bright appearance, with golden tones typical of these varieties. The nose is characterized by the complexity of its fruity notes, highlighting the aromas of nugget fruit such as green apple and pear, and some reminiscence of stone fruit, peach and apricot. On the palate it stands out its volume, where the acidity is fully integrated. Its sweet notes make this wine intense and pleasant leaving a lingering tropical aftertaste.  __________________________________ 

Ozalder Rosado Rosé 2022

  • Grade: 13.5%

Vineyards: The grapes come from our own vineyards, which are located in the middle area of Navarre. This area is characterized by temperatures with contrasts between night and day and very moderate rainfall, which favors the phenolic ripening of the grapes. Thus, they acquire the optimal colour and an excellent polymerization of the same for their longevity and freshness.

Preparation: These grapes have been harvested at night, in order to avoid as much as possible any kind of oxidation. They are properly treated from the filling of the trailer in the field, so that there are no unwanted macerations, since in a matter of hours it bleeds by gravity, without mechanical force, to obtain the best quality tear must. The must is cleaned by flotation. The fermentation takes place at a very low temperature (12ºC) which makes it long, allowing to extract all the good that the fine lees provide, hence its volume in the mouth. All these oenological techniques give rise to the aromatic intensity of this wine, its volume in the mouth and longevity over time.

Wine tasting: In view we have a very bright wine with the typical red colour of the denomination. On the nose it stands out for its aromatic intensity revealing aromas of very ripe red fruits highlighting strawberry and cherry. The fruit prevails over the varietal character, which is more pronounced in the mouth, resulting in a round and smooth wine, but at the same time structured, which balances the alcoholic power and joint acidity. All this gives it some complexity, which together with the persistence in the aftertaste is very pleasant and invites to drink.  __________________________________ 

Ozalder Tinto Red Young 2022

  • Grade: 14,5%

Vineyards: The grapes come from our own vineyards, located in the centre of Navarre, in the villages of Larraga and Oteiza. This region is known for its mild temperatures and moderate rainfall, ideal for slow ripening of the grapes. These vineyards are rain-fed, not irrigated, so the level of production is not high. This process produces grapes that have more aromatic strength.

Preparation: The grapes are harvested by machine. It is then left in fermentative maceration at a temperature of 10ºC to promote the extraction of aromatic compounds. After a few days, the alcoholic fermentation process begins, when lactic bacteria selected to initiate malolactic fermentation at the same time are inoculated (co-inoculation). We consider that this new technique is very positive, due to the final aromatic potential that provides a lot of red fruits that retain a high stable colour index. This process produces a softer wine that is available immediately after the harvest, thus enhancing the absolute freshness of this wine.

Wine tasting: This wine has a medium chromatic layer, with intense purple tones, coming from the careful elaboration technique. Its nose is characterized by the intensity of ripe and sweet notes of red fruit, highlighting strawberry and cherry. On the palate, it is a wine with a soft and sweet taste, which gradually fills the mouth, giving rise to a marked fruity aftertaste. This wine can be characterized by being soft and easy to consume.  __________________________________ 

Ozalder White Limited Edition

  • Grade: 14%

Vineyards:The grapes come from their own vineyards, located in the middle of Navarre, specifically in Larraga. This region is known for its mild temperatures and moderate rainfall, ideal for the slow ripening of grapes. These vineyards are rain-fed farms; therefore, the level of production is not high, which allows us to obtain a good ripening. This process produces grapes that have more aromatic strength.

Preparation:The harvest takes place at night, completely avoiding the oxidation of the aromatic precursors of the grapes. After the must has been cleaned using flotation techniques, fermentation begins in ovoid deposits. The shape of these deposits favours biodynamics by keeping the lees in suspension, which leads to an increase in volume and fat in the mouth. Once the fermentation is over, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for a period of 3 or 4 months.

Wine tasting:On the surface, it stands out its golden shade typical of the wooden maturation. The nose is characterized by the complexity of its floral and exotic notes, mainly highlighting the aroma of grapefruit. On the palate, its volume stands out, where acidity and structure are fully integrated. Its sweet and balsamic notes make this wine greedy, leaving a pleasant and persistent aftertaste.

We are a family winery, through sharing ideas and know-how, are transforming them into wines with personality. We produce six kinds of wine: Four reds: Limited Edition, Crianza, Oak and Young Red. In addition, we also produce rose and white wine. We can also provide high quality bulk wine. We produce wines only with grapes from our Tempranillo, Merlot and Syrah vine varieties for red wines and rose wines. For white wines the varieties chosen are Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viura. We take care in detail of the whole process of elaboration, from the selection of the vines to the shipment of the bottles, being a personal bet and focused on the peculiarities of each customer and each order.

In Roman times wine was already being produced in Navarre. Here you can see the whole process of wine-making. After 2000 years of experience and with improvements through cultivation and production techniques, the wines from Navarre have begun to enjoy a recognised national and international prestige. The Rose deserves a special distinction, coming from the traditional red grape bleeding method. At present Navarre is divided into 5 areas, due to its climatic differences.

Our vineyards, situated in the middle area of Navarre, covers different areas, from Larraga and Oteiza, to Iguzquiza, Ayegui and Azqueta. Our objective is quality. Thus, our wines are produced based from Tempranillo and Merlot grapes grown on carefully selected land. We use a specific production method and afinamiento in the cask. In short, we couple traditional and modern wine-making techniques to produce our wines.
