About this company

Since 1959, with constant and passionate commitment, Vecchia Torre Winery combines tradition and innovation, art and science, , regard for the land and opening to the world, producing wines that excite even the most refined lovers of Bacchus. Today, Vecchia Torre Winery is one of the most important and successful cooperatives in the Province of Lecce, in South Apulia. Since the constitution, the company has been growing very fast: the 1,250 members produce about 14,000 tons of grapes annually from their 1.300 hectares of vineyards. The core of the wine production is the intense respect we have for our culture and traditions and the sincere relationship with our members, who are followed and advised in all phases of the grape development. Due to the huge quantity of grapes harvested, we have to immediately make a careful selection using some advanced wine techniques to establish the right vinification processes needed for the different grape quality. Professionalism and thoroughness in the selection of grapes and the use of modern winemaking techniques, always respecting the ancient traditions, are the guarantee elements of quality that Vecchia Torre offers to its customers. Particular attention is paid to the quality-price ratio, that allows to offer a high quality wine at an affordable and honest price thereby establishing a relationship of trust with our customers. To fully involve our customers in the authentic culture of wine we created a new shop and testing room for both bulk and bottled wines. Winery reception is a very important element that integrates and completes the company's offer; guided tours can be conducted, even in a foreign language. Among different grapes varieties, the predominant varietals are the local Negroamaro, Primitivo and Malvasia of Lecce, combined together with red grapes if Montepulciano and Syrah. The most important white varietals are Vermentino, Malvasia Bianca, Chardonnay and Trebbiano. In the past few years several national and international Magazines (Slow Food, Gambero Rosso, Luigi Veronelli and Lm by Luca Maroni) and Wine Challenges have recognized the great quality and value-for-money of our wines. The passion for the first rate wine is the main feature of our story, that makes Cantina Vecchia Torre a fine ambassador of Salento on the tables of the world.
