Description
This vineyard is run and belongs to the BATLLE-CAZES family, winegrowers from father to son for five generations. The cellar and the residential buildings are located in the middle of the family vineyard. This property seduces with its history and its traditional side. The main characteristic of this vineyard lies in the perfect combination of an exceptional terroir, old traditional grape varieties (Grenache, Syrah, Carignan) and a particularly privileged Mediterranean climate.
The vines are mature and give a limited production, around 30 to 35 hectoliters per hectare of vines (Hl/ha). The site of this valley is rich in the history of Cathar castles. We see in the photo below, on the heights of the mountains, the famous Quéribus castle, which is part of the line of castles that go to the city of Carcassonne. The Cabirou, one of the plots of black shales which gives birth each year with the “La Toureze” cuvée in the dry Maury appellation.
