THE MAKING OF LATITUDE 34 WINE CO. A proud family owned and operated company, Latitude 34 Wine Company was established in 1997 with our first vineyards in the Blackwood Valley, followed by the planting in 1998 of our St Johns Brook vineyard in Yallingup, Margaret River. Our name Latitude 34 reflects our geographic location Latitude South 34, Longitude East 118 and paying tribute to the early maritime explorers and traders who passed by our corner of the world centuries ago. Bounded by oceans on three sides, our wine appellations experience a distinct Mediterranean climate providing consistent seasonal growing conditions due to its unique maritime conditions, and often likened to the old world region Bordeaux on the western coast of France. Since 1997 we have been growing and making premium award winning wines from our 120 hectares of vineyards located in the Margaret River and Blackwood Valley wine regions. Our new winery was constructed in readiness for the 2004 vintage. Being purpose built for our winemaking needs, it was designed featuring modern fruit processing equipment with a 1,200 tonne crush capacity per annum. Our modern chilled and controlled on- site storage for over 1.5 million litres plus extensive oak investment in our barrel hall. Our winery in Margaret River places us in the top 10 independent producers in Western Australia. We are proud that our wine is handcrafted from our 120 hectares of estate grown fruit.
