Description

Tasting Notes This wine has lifted floral musk fruit aromas. The palate is Sweet and soft in texture with a pleasant fruity finish. A Delightfully fruit driven and well rounded wine. GROWING: The Muscat grape is the world’s oldest known grape variety. The Gordo is sourced from old vines, which introduces ripe fragrant fruit flavours. The elegant flavours of this wine are a reflection of the care taken to grow our wines with a committed quality focus. This is the only grape variety to produce wine with the same aroma as the grape itself. The vine itself is low yielding with medium size very dark green leaves. MAKING: All fruit was harvested during autumn, when the grapes were at their sweetest. The fermentation was under controlled conditions and carefully monitored. When the sweetness level was optimal, the fermentation was stopped to retain the natural sweetness of the grape. After fermentation, the wine was minimally handled until bottling. This wine requires no further ageing to be enjoyed. FOOD: Drink this wine with spicy foods or just chilled on its own. AGEING: Drink now, although the wine will age elegantly and develop lovely rich raisin characters over time.

About this company

Toorak Winery was founded by the Bruno family in 1965. It started out as a small production facility processing approximately 30 Tonnes of grapes. With gradual expansions and hard work, today it processes 5000 tonnes of grapes annually, supplying Australian and International Markets. Frank Bruno Senior originated from the Sicilian town of Palermo in Italy and, in the early 1950’s, he and his young family immigrated to Australia. He worked on a property in Leeton and eventually purchased the 50 acre farm from the original owners. On the farm were mixed plantings of peaches, apricots, oranges and some grapes. Frank Senior planted more grapes on his now family farm. Since wine was always part of the Bruno family culture, the making of wine was a natural progression for the family and, in particular, Frank’s two sons Vince and Frank Jnr. The focus on grape production led them to making the first commercial vintage in 1965, and the launch of Toorak Winery.
