In 2006, our founder and managing member, Moji Shand, took a break from her life as a lawyer in the big city of Los Angeles for a change of pace. She traveled to Scotland with a group of friends to tour whisky distilleries and taste Scotch whisky from its source. This was when Moji learned about Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky and met the company Chairman, Euan Shand. Euan gave Moji a “dram” straight from the cask of Duncan Taylor 1969 Macallan that was being bottled for the U.S., and the rest is history. She fell in love with the beautiful land, the wonderful people, and of course, Scotch whisky. That year, Moji returned to her boring life as a lawyer still dreaming about that 1969 Macallan and her trip to Scotland. But five years later, she found herself married to none other than Euan Shand himself. Moji was now immersed and even more passionate about the industry just by being married to the whisky man. The more she learned about whisky, the more she wanted everyone she knew to try the whiskies that were produced by Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky. And so, the story of Shand Import LLC began…. In 2013, Moji applied for her license to become a U.S importer and recruited a brilliant team of whisky enthusiasts who were passionate about Scotch Whisky. Together, we spread the word about Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky, and before you knew it, everyone wanted a piece of our amazing products. We are now licensed to sell in more than twenty five states with distributors all around. Although we began by exclusively importing Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky products, we have expanded our portfolio by hand-selecting a few other brilliant multi-award winning products from small, artisanal spirits producers such as Valt Vodka, Gilt Gin, Villa Lobos Tequila and Hapsburg Absinthe. We are now on a mission to seek out unique, artisanal producers from around the world who are passionate about distilling only high-quality spirits made by real people for real people with great taste and value. We have a spectacular team of staff, producers and distributors to support us and we are here to introduce the world’s best artisanal spirits to America.
