Sill Family Vineyards announced a significant wine industry-upending event. They are officially launching their très Chardonnay de Rosé at Susan G. Komen's RoseFest event on June 24th in Calistoga, Napa. Says Winemaker Igor Sill, "For years I've studied producing a superior California Rosé born of my Provence and Bandol, France memories. A Rosé that's rich, elegant, ultra quality and an extraordinarily different Rosé from those available anywhere on the planet. Handcrafted as an industry first, our ultra-premium, limited production Chardonnay-based Rosé from the exceptional Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (98%) and Napa (Rutherford) Georges de Latour Cabernet Sauvignon (2%) grapes achieves the absolute peak of pedigree perfection for Rosé."

"Our très Chardonnay de Rosé blends the finest, most prestigious grapes to produce this elegantly brilliant and floral Rosé. Our très Chardonnay de Rosé is that beautifully fitted black dress of Rosé wines that seduces with alluring bouquets of Fraises des Bois and cherry blossoms before drifting memorably into the late evening," says Sill.

What distinguishes très Chardonnay de Rosé from all other Rosés are the grape varietals used along with the French white oak barrel aging. Generally, traditional Rosés are produced using a combination of the lesser grapes of Grenache, Cinsault, Carignan, Syrah, and Mourvédre. Hill contends that truly exceptional wines come from ultra superior grapes, such as Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Sill barrel ages a limited production of 98% Sonoma Coast Chardonnay blended with 2% Rutherford Bench Napa Cabernet Sauvignon wines, producing a limited 760 bottles resulting in a truly fresh marriage of the finest, most prestigious grapes. Says Sill, "We are truly blessed with the unique terroir of our très Chardonnay de Rosé which supports this classic Provençal-style Rosé which produces an elegantly brilliant, crisp, rich, balanced, buttery floral Rosé."

Sill uses the traditional Provençal and Bordeaux method, then ages the wine in French white oak barrels from Tonnellerie Jean-Louis BOSSUET and Tonnellerie REMOND.

The wood barrel staves are chosen from the finest forests in the center of France. These are fully grown white oak trees, 150 to 200 years old from the Allier, Nevers and Tronçais Haute Futaie forests. These three forests have tighter grains and are some of the most sought after woods for the production of fine, more aromatically delicate wines.

"Some wines are worth remembering, a rare few are unforgettable. We may make many compromises in life, but never with our wines," says Sill.
