How and why is Cannabis Drinks Gradually Shifting the Beverage Market?

25/11/2019

“A study conducted by the National Institute on Drug Abuse calculates that a person would need to consume nearly 1,500 pounds of marijuana within a 15-minute period to induce a lethal response, which shouldn’t surprise anyone to hear, is physically impossible to do.

-Westin Johnson, Production Support Manager at Integrated Compliance Solution (ICS) which a company that provides a compliant solution to Cannabis, CBD & Hemp Banking.

Cannabis popularly known as weed or marijuana has been a scary scheduled “substance” for the past several decades. More than a scary substance it has become a taboo and is known as something that people smoke which is by and large not a socially acceptable activity and something that people don't generally go for while they are around their family or around their bosses at work functions. Smokers may be smoking tobacco or weed or anything else is generally done a back alley activity or an activity done at designated places. Smoking can almost never become a dinner-table activity while enjoying food with your loved ones, at least not indoors.

Beverages are not just something that we like and hence we drink. Beverages play a much bigger role in our social circles. Alcoholic beverages have built big social circles, have gotten two strangers closer to one another, have made people intoxicated just enough to loosen a little and speak a little more freely. For wine drinkers, alcohol makes them appreciate wine itself and again builds conversations around it.

So the question is why according to a survey are 52% of adults in the US who drink alcohol are either trying now or have tried before to reduce their alcohol intake?

“Alcohol is the cause of 5 percent of all deaths annually in the world that are attributed directly to alcohol consumption”

                                                                                                                                                                           -World Health Organization (WHO)

Cannabis is currently being researched as a therapy or treatment. Controlled cannabis beverages do not give a hangover, have a lot fewer calories, and moreover do not cause toxicity. Today cannabis is being researched to treat exactly those diseases like alcoholic polyneuropathy, liver diseases, brain diseases like Parkinson's and cancer that are either caused by or contributed to by alcohol consumption.

Over-Consumption reports according to Canadian Law say that one is absolutely never going to have issues of over-consumption. Also reminiscing the quote at the beginning of this article by Westin Johnson saying it is practically impossible to overdose on marijuana to a point of fatality.

Any threat is cut out completely by limiting the consumption levels of THC.

“Companies look at cannabis beverages to an alternative delivery system to cannabis, while we see it is as an alternate delivery system to alcohol.”

-Terence Donnelly, CEO, Hill Street Beverage Company

At the Cannabis Drinks Expo (San Francisco)

The Beverage Trade Network stepped up to begin an initiative to bring together the world of cannabis beverages together under a single canopy.

The Cannabis Drinks Expo San Francisco brought nearly a 1000 people under a single roof in a B2B trade show for cannabis investors. Serious cannabis drinks and beverage investors were a part of an event that was “packed with people” according to the NBC Bay Area.

The event shined a light on cannabis in a very holistic manner. It not only brought canna-beverage buyers and sellers together but also featured a conference which was addressed to various nuances like a panel discussion on “Cannabis Regulations Across Boundaries” subject to open Q&A after the discussion with the attendees. The conference also brought a scientific panel by the most experienced researchers to speak about water-compatible cannabis extract nanoemulsions and cannabis safety.

Several individual speakers also spoke on the conference about how to combat barriers to Cannabis Beverage growth, selling and distributing cannabis drinks, and many more such topics.

This was indeed one of a kind.

The Cannabis Drinks Expo will be returning to add more business value again in the year 2020 to those that are invested or are looking to invest in the industry.

Cannabis thrives where alcohol simply can't!

135 million adults are currently on prescription drugs that are contra-indicative to alcohol in the USA and Canada.

If you look at one of the drivers of Cannabis consumption, it is mostly recreational. If you observe the mood, time and places when people have consumed cannabis it mirrors the patterns of consumption of alcohol.

Beverages are the most socially acceptable forms for any intoxicant use. Today Beer and Wine are considered the two of the most popular beverages of the liquor industry. While global revenue from beer stands at 42 percent of the total value, wine is about 31-32 percent globally.

The scope for cannabis is tremendous considering what we haven't even included in studies yet.

Beverage alcohol market shows tremendous potential for cannabis beverages. The size of the alcohol beverage market is dramatically larger. Although it may take time legalizing something which has a massive business opportunity can easily spike growth which brings expectations to as high as a 7-8 billion dollar market in the USA and Canada alone.

Consumers that love beverages are actually double the number of current cannabis consumers. This means that you are tapping into a huge number of people who do not smoke cannabis, who do not have interest in vaping, who do not like gummies but when you put cannabis in a beverage you attract them. As long as they enjoy something after trying it and spread the word in their social circles. If 2 more people of my circle are doing it, ill join in.

“The Cannabis Drinks Expo bought Zenith Global to estimate a $1.4 bn market by 2023”

                                                                                                                    -Forbes 2019

Cannabis Drinks Expo San Francisco and Cannabis Drinks Expo Chicago intend to become pioneers at growing the cannabis industry exponentially and at the same time educating those that are looking for fresh growth in the industry of beverages.
