There’s now a chocolate gin and it might be every gin lover’s dream

Belgian chocolate makers Xolato have created a gin infused with cocoa beans from Colombia, Pietmonte hazelnuts, Avola almonds, wild Madagascan chilli peppers and vanilla pods.

This is every gin and chocolate lover’s dream – a gin made with chocolate.

The gin has 47 botanicals in total, including juniper.

The result is a sweet, silky-smooth gin, called ‘X-Gin’, that its makers claim not only tastes divine but is also an aphrodisiac.

It is said to be surprisingly light on the palate with a spicy finish and is perfect either neat over ice or mixed with a neutral tonic like Fever Tree Mediterranean with cacao nibs as a garnish.

It also works in a Martini with a Dry Vermouth and the nibs again.

Xolato chose to use cocoa beans from Columbia because historically these were used by the Incas, Aztecs and Mayans to make drinks fit for Gods.

Stieven Victor, director of Xolato, told the Martini Whisperer: ‘We wanted to make something different from everything that was out there and were already into chocolate with our Belgian chocolate brand Xolato.
