Upland Brewing Co. is continuing their expansion of wood-aged sour distribution in Washington D.C. after experiencing success in other east coast markets. Upland held a soft launch in D.C. with positive reception last month during the Craft Brewers Conference. They have partnered with distributor Madidus to bring their wood-aged sours to this city with a revered dining and drinks scene.

“D.C. has one of the best culinary scenes in the country and we’ve found that our sours are very well received in these food-centric cities. We’ve partnered with a great new distributor, Madidus, and look forward to joining a thriving craft beer market in our nation’s capital,” said Upland Sour Brand Manager, Dusty Howe.

Upland opened their Wood Shop Sour Ale Brewery a year ago, although they have been brewing wood-aged sours for over a decade. The Wood Shop has allowed them to scale up production and continue innovating in traditional styles with small batch experiments. Arriving first in D.C. will be Hopsynth, Iridescent, and a limited supply of Cursed Kettles, a collaboration beer with Prairie Artisan Ales out of Oklahoma. In addition to distribution in the Midwest, Upland sour ales can also be found in Boston, New York, and Philadelphia.

Launch events begin the week of May 8 starting with a tap takeover at ChurchKey Beer Bar, where guests can enjoy eight sour ales, such as Peach, aged on fresh, whole Indiana peaches, and Iridescent, aged on dried apricots and ginger.
