10/05/2017

PicoBrew today announced Flying Dog Brewery of Frederick, MD, Pike Brewing of Seattle, WA and Fate Brewing Company of Boulder, CO, have all joined PicoBrew's Brewers Network to create PicoPaks, further extending the number of award-winning craft beers customers can brew at home on Pico® home craft brewery appliances. All three breweries are GABF (Great American Beer Festival) award winners, which is recognized around the world as a symbol of brewing excellence and among the most coveted awards in the industry. PicoBrew, a manufacturer of the world's first line of automatic, craft beer brewing appliances, currently has more than 160 brewery partners around the world.

The announcement comes as PicoBrew's Pico Model C Kickstarter campaign is closing in on a Kickstarter record, raising more than $1.692M. If the campaign reaches $1.812M in funding in the remaining three days, all backers will gain bragging rights as supporters of the most successful food Kickstarter campaign ever.

Flying Dog Brewery of Frederick, MD, Pike Brewing of Seattle, WA and Fate Brewing Company of Boulder, CO, have all joined PicoBrew’s Brewers Network to create PicoPaks, further extending the number of award-winning craft beers customers can brew at home on Pico® home craft brewery appliances. PicoBrew, a manufacturer of the world’s first line of automatic, craft beer brewing appliances, currently has more than 160 brewery partners around the world.

"We're thrilled to be partnering with such famous and storied breweries that want their customers around the world to enjoy their beer in their freshest possible from using our Pico," said Dr. Bill Mitchell, CEO of PicoBrew.

"With their 'Gonzo' style and Colorado heritage, Flying Dog beers are assertive and distinctive," says Bob W., Pico Owner.  "They make brews that show off the hops, malt, and craftsmanship. From the controversial names and labels to the bold flavors, Flying Dog beers really stand out. Now, you can make it. As a Pico owner, I'm looking forward to having some as if I were in Maryland."

Flying Dog Brewery (Frederick, MD,) named this year among the top 50 craft and overall brewing companies in the U.S. by the Brewers Association and Mid-size Brewery of the Year and features artwork by renowned artist Ralph Steadman. Their first PicoPak will be their Raging Bitch IPA, which has a sweet malt body, contrasted with pine and grapefruit hop flavors and exotic fruit yeast notes.

Pike Brewing (Seattle, WA) one of the oldest of the Seattle Craft Breweries and a multiple GABF award winner. Brewed in the Belgian Abbey style right here in Seattle, their first PicoPak is the Monk's Uncle, offering a big, full-bodied nose of fruity and exotic esters. This golden colored has hints of honey and spice that come from organic malts, sugar, and local hops.

Fate Brewing Company, (Boulder, CO), a stand out among craft breweries in Boulder.  FATE won the gold medal for German Style Kölsch at the 2014 GABF for their Lamas Kölsch Style Ale, which will be their first PicoPak. Light, clean and crisp with a dry finish, Lamas Kölsch Style Ale has a lighter malt and hop character and a touch of sweetness. Its fresh flavor comes from the German Pils malt and noble hops and the body glows a brilliant, gold color.

"My Pico keeps getting better with all these breweries they keep adding!"  says Tom C., a current Kickstarter backer.

Founded in 1982, the Great American Beer Festival is the premier U.S. beer festival and competition. Each year, GABF represents the largest collection of U.S. beer ever served, in a public tasting event plus a private competition. This event showcases the diverse beers that make craft brewing one of the fastest-growing segments of the beer, wine, and spirits industry.
