According to Shaw, there are hopes to extend the hours of operation in the upcoming summer months.

“We opened the last weekend in February and right now you can visit Mash Brewing Friday evenings from 4 to 8 p.m., and we are open on Saturdays from 4 to 7 p.m.,” Shaw said. “Starting over the summer, we will be operating more like a tasting room where you can get a pint of beer. We are also hoping to expand our operating hours to Thursdays and host more events.”

There are free tastings available at Mash Brewery, according to Shaw, along with a constantly rotating selection of beers for the customers to try.

“We brew all the beer that we serve right on site. Right now, we offer tastings of all our beers, which are complementary,” Shaw said. “We also do growler fills — if there is beer that people like they have the option to take some home with them.”

Cassidy Shaw said she and her husband opened Mash because they saw an opportunity for a new and exciting business in Charles Town.

“Charles Town didn’t have a brewery, and there actually aren’t many breweries in the state,” Cassidy said. “Me and my husband were always traveling to Virginia to go and try different places out. So we thought it would be fun to have our own little place, and a place that was local. We love Charles Town, so it was an easy decision for us to open a shop here.”

Shaw said that getting to open this brewery has brought her family many new friendships.

“My favorite part right now is getting to meet so many different people in town,” she said. “We have met a lot of people that are our neighbors that we probably wouldn’t have met otherwise. It has been a place for the community to get together which has been really cool.”
