Genesee Releasing Orange Honey Cream Ale

Orange Honey Cream Ale, the latest in the Genesee Brew House Pilot Batch series.

04/05/2017

A sun-filled day on the lake. A backyard barbecue with friends and family. Road-tripping through small towns and across state lines. These summer moments are great in their own unique way, and a new, limited-time- only beer is making summer even greater: Orange Honey Cream Ale, the latest in the Genesee Brew House Pilot Batch series.

Like all beers in the Pilot Batch series, this new installment is the brainchild of Dean Jones, Brewmaster for Genesee Brew House. Last spring, Jones was experimenting with a variety of ingredients and flavor profiles for beer options, and a lightbulb went off. Jones realized the untapped potential laying in front of him – in the form of many raw ingredients. A case of good fortune, thorough experimentation and beer smarts brought forth what has been coined as Orange Honey Cream Ale.

“I had all these raw ingredients at my fingertips — honey, orange peels, spices — and I thought, ‘We have to do something with these. There is something here,’” Jones said. “We were able to innovate with Cream Ale, such an underrated beer and my personal favorite, to get this outcome of a really clean, crisp, citrusy beer.”

Orange Honey Cream Ale made its debut at the annual Tap It Forward Festival, where attendees could not get enough and it was deemed a festival favorite. The in-person reviews at the festival and from inside the Genesee Beer House also matched the online reviews, and it was decided Orange Honey Cream Ale would be packaged and roll into markets this month.

Better yet — big news comes in a small package — Orange Honey Cream Ale will be the first Genesee Brew House Pilot Batch to be available in 12-ounce cans. Six-packs cans make grabbing and going (and stocking the cooler) even easier this summer. Enjoy a can while floating in the boat or stoking the bonfire.
