The domain La Crama Del Duca is located in an area which occupies a beautiful strip of land which lies at the contact area between the Mures River, the Aradului Plain and the Zarandului Mountains; this area that looks like an amphitheatre enjoys a special microclimate, particularly favourable to the cultivation of Pinot Noir vine. The vineyards are spread over an area of about 230 hectares, mostly hilly, with clayey soils. The vineyards, with an average production of about 90 quintals of grapes per hectare, allows an average annual production of 1,500,000 bottles of wine. As a confirmation of a work aimed at seeking the highest quality, a study of mapping initiated in 2008 by the producers has allowed us to define the suitability of the entire wine-growing area, through the studying and the evaluation of the effect of the weather, geographic features and morphology of the territory as a whole. This innovative system has allowed, and still allows us to exploit the interaction between vine and its cultivation environment, enhancing the specificity and behavioural adaptation of a variety to place it is cultivated and making organic farming suitable to the area so that it express the best qualities of Pinot Noir.
