About Kate Jones Growing up on a horse, hay and cattle ranch on the east coast, Kathleen “Kate” Jones came from a family that was utterly dedicated to agriculture. Her father, a noted veterinarian, was also known for his fermentation skills, making homemade cider, beer and wine for the extended family and friends. As a student at the University of Delaware, Kate found that her growing interest in wine married well with the solace she found in coastal environments. In time she began dreaming of creating a wine brand that focused on the unique qualities of cool climate wine grapes, and the pursuit of that dream eventually led her to relocate west to the California coast. With great temerity and diligence Kate found employment with Hahn Family Wines in Monterey, which gave her an unparalleled stage to learn the art of cool climate winemaking. She then founded Blue Oasis Wines in 2012 with a focus on producing the Burgundian varietal wines that thrive in the cool coastal microclimates of the west coast. About Blue Oasis Wines Elegance, balance and the expression of true varietal flavors are the hallmarks of all Blue Oasis wines. Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris are our varietal focus, and to perfectly illustrate how they express the individual terroirs of the Monterey, Santa Barbara, Russian River, Anderson Valley and the Oregon appellations is our mission. Our winemaking goal is to create wines with bright yet elegant fruit flavors, a pronounced minerality that denotes a sense of place, with crisp acids and a long finish. A kiss of French oak, a rich mid-palate and perfectly balanced alcohol are the keys to our style. Cold soaking, wild yeasts and cool fermentations are all deployed to let the true fruit character come through. Above all, the expression of the unique coastal origin and variation is our bedrock, and we hope that you will appreciate this artistic quest. About the Blue Oasis 2010 Monterey County Pinot Noir Put simply, 2010 was a great vintage for coastal Pinot Noir. Bright fruit, balance, elegance and finesse. This wine is a product of our esteemed growers from the Santa Lucia Highlands and Arroyo Seco sub appellations of Monterey County, and our renowned winemaker Corneliu Dane. The wine displays a ripe cherry nose with vibrant red fruit flavors characteristic of balanced Pinot Noir fruit. The mid-palate is lush and the finish smooth and elegant.
