Agriloro SA was founded in 1981 by Meinrad Perler. Son of a farmer, born and raised in canton Fribourg, at the age of 25 he moved to Ticino to work in another profession, but he has always stayed closely in touch with his agricultural roots. In 1981 he acquired Tenimento dell’Ör, an ancient Estate in Arzo which is mentioned in old documents as one of the most important vineyard of the region. The first wine production arrived only in 1992 after many years of experimentation on site. Another important step was taken in 2002 with the purchase of Tenimento la Prella, a property of 11 ha of vineyards in Genestrerio, one of the communes that make up Mendrisio. Today the estate counts 20 ha of vineyards, 9 in Arzo and 11 in Genestrerio, where 60% of the production is represented by Merlot. Nevertheless, Agriloro is also well known to grow 28 different grape varieties. This is the result of 30 years of experimental spirit and curiosity that brought the owner to plant also an ampelographic collection with more than 400 grape varieties. With 85% red wine 15 % white wine, our year production reaches 180’000 bottles with a total of more than 20 different labels. The modern winery, built in the heart of Tenimento la Prella, is an architectural jewel that host a technological winemaking laboratory where the self producted grapes from the 20 hectares of vineayrd are vinified with the best respect, focused on high quality wines.
