A TRUE SENSE OF BELONGING The CIODET Winery has always been in Valdobbiadene, the heart of the Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG area which nestles among the beautiful hills that wind through northern Treviso Province creating a natural amphitheatre between the nearby mountains and sea. The climate, the soil composition and the steep hillsides render the DOCG area unique and utterly inimitable for the production of Valdobbiadene DOCG. Here there are just 6,000 hectares of vineyards between the towns of Valdobbiadene and Conegliano with a further 107 hectares of Cartizze tucked away close to San Pietro di Barbozza. The grapes are processed in the second half of September. FROM FOUNDRY TO VINEYARD An ancient foundry, and the life of Bartolomeo Bortolomiol. We know he harvested the grapes for his wine and that he made nails in his foundry. And it is these nails that gave him and his descendants the nickname "Ciodet" from the local dialect word for the Italian "chiodo" (nail). This is a family as dedicated as the land is itself to wine growing, and excellence. After the War, Labano Bortolomiol and his brothers set out to refine the quality of a wine with a bright future. Today the family tradition continues with Labano’s sons. Enrico, naturally innovative and an expert oenologist, represents the true spirit of a new generation that believes in quality as a fundamental mark of distinction.
