Description
From a vineyard with limestone and stony soil at high altitude (910m). An all organic vineyard where biodynamic practices are applied.
Grape production is limited to 4,000kg/ha. The collection of the grapes is manual in boxes of 12kg.
Soft macerations, between 2 and 3 weeks and the aging is adapted to the characteristics of the grape.
This is a signature wine with intense aromas of black fruit, incense and cocoa.

Tasting notes
Deep garnet, almost black color, with an intense ruby rim.
Despite the age of the wine it has not lost any of its strong color.
On the nose, mature black fruit, particularly blackberries.
Slightly toasted oak, coconut and vanilla. Mineral with cinnamon and nutmeg tones.
Dark chocolate merges to a complex sensation on the nose.
This complexity is testament to the time spent in the barrels.
At first sip the minerals are more pronounced. Dry powerful tannins well balanced with acidity.
Full bodied and leaves a warm sensation in the mouth. An elegant and complex wine.

About this company
We are a small company that focuses on bringing the terroir of Ribera del Duero in a bottle of wine. All processes are environmentally friendly and focus on biodiversity. We make quality wines that represent the freshness and complexity of the region.
The inspiration behind the creation of the Bodegas Martamate began in 2008. We had been making wines successfully for several years from our vineyard in Gumiel de Mercado but , in 2008, we used the best of these grapes to create an exclusive wine, limited to the production of only 3000 bottles.
This first wine, which goes by the name of Primordium (meaning: the origin, the beginning) received a magnificent welcome and was acclaimed by wine critics and connoisseurs (95 points Parker).
It was at this point that we decided to consolidate our inspiration and expertise to create our own winery. We united as a team with a shared philosophy and aim: to produce quality wine that celebrates all that is good in life.
In May 2013, our ideas literally became concrete; we acquired some buildings in Tubilla del Lago, Burgos, within the designated area for the denomination of origin for the Ribera del Duero wines. The Bodega marta maté was born: a plain and simple building in the heart of the countryside solely devoted to the elaboration of a limited quantity of top quality wine.
