Description

Vineyard: 12 years old vineyard situated in the Ovce Pole region – place called Balabanica. It is located at 400 m above see level. The density is 4000 vines per ha. Climate is continental.  Soil is mainly clay with some sand and loam.

Reduction: 2012 yield as 3 ta/ha

Harvest: Harvest is done when the grapes achieve their technical maturity-sugar units- 250 – 275 gr/L. Projected yields with potent grapes. The grapes are hand picked, placed in 20 kg plastic casks, sorted by hand.

Grape Varieties:  Vranec 60% , Plavac mali 20%, Cabernet sauvignon 20%.

This exact coupage is used in order to polish, elevate and extend the Vranec variety taste which is an autochthon grape variety for Macedonia and the key variety in Terra Makedonika. This together with the wildflower and herbal infusion gives a real representation of the Macedonian Terroir.

Vinification: The grapes are selected by hand on a selecting table and then de-stemmed by machine with patented technology without crushing. Fermentation in 5000 liter tanks with controlled parameters. The fermentation (contact with skin) takes 10 days.

Ageing: Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (225 L)

Alcohol:  14,5 vol.%

Acidity (g/l): 4.9

Production:  20000 bottles of 0,75 liters

Tasting notes: Deep ruby color. Plenty of black fruit character on the nose with rich spice, supported by some smoke aromas. Developing underlined by some toasty notes from the oak barrel which elevate the complexity of the wine. Very expressive peppery and black fruit nose, complex. Long finish with good depth and richness which gives enough potential to age and smooth tannins which melt in your mouth.
