Born in 1972 as “Especial Rivera”, Estrella Galicia Cerveza Especial is our premium beer that would soon become our brewery's flagship brand. Representing years of dedication to our craft and culture by our world-renowned brewmasters, Estrella Galicia is lagered for up to one month in our state-of-the-art facility to ensure quality and consistency.

Estrella Galicia Cerveza Especial is produced by using freshwater from our city of A Coruña, where the brewery is located. Then followed by using a delicate balance of pilsen and roasted malts, equal parts Nugget hops from Spain and Perle hops from Germany, along with our proprietary house yeast strain.

Aroma: Excellent aromatic balance between malts and hops.

Appearance: Golden color, clean and bright.

Taste: Lightly floral and herbal flavors, with a moderate warm mouthfeel, and intense hoppy bitter taste that lingers the mouth.

Alcohol content: 5,5%

Formats: 11.2, 8.5 and 6.3 FL. OZ. bottles (Special Lager bottle) 30 litres keg.

Food pairing suggestions:

Cheese: Wide range. From soft mild to hard cheeses.

Vegetables: Dishes cooked with garlic, tomato and root vegetables present a good balance with this beer.

Mushrooms: Estrella Galicia Special Lager boosts sweet/bitter/ earthy flavors like in mushrooms and some nuts.

Fish: Cooked as fish stews.

Meat: Chicken and rabbit. The pairing will be enhanced if oven roasting is involved, specially with aromatic and oily dressings.

Estrella Galicia is Spain’s largest independent brewery founded by Jose Maria Rivera in 1906. His passion for beer led him to build a small brewery in A Coruna, located in the northwestern region of Galicia. Over 110 years later and through 5 generations of the Rivera family, this beautiful Spanish city on the Atlantic Ocean continues to be the only place in the world where they brew Estrella Galicia and 1906 beers. Galician identity and attention to quality is integral to their beermaking process. They use untreated, water sourced from a protected natural reserve, and grow their own hop crops to support production. In addition to brewing, Hijo de Rivera produces a full line of ciders, wines, spirits, and waters.
