Description

A delicious wine made from estate fruit and fruit from other amazing vineyards located in the Willamette Valley. This wine delights with hints of chocolate with a tart streak of pineapple and orange in a palate of firm red current fruit layered with waves of sweet blackberry fruit and cola. This wine pairs well with pork, salmon, tuna, lobster bisque, pan-seared halibut, and oysters on the half.

About this company

Saffron Fields at a Glance The Name The name Saffron Fields expresses the property’s essence of a serene, sensory oriented retreat with elegant wine reflective of the land. Derived from the saffron crocus flower, saffron is the most highly valued spice in the world. Fields of saffron harken back to owner Sanjeev Lahoti’s roots in India—where saffron grows abundantly. To food lovers, Saffron is known for its honey taste with notes of hay and grass, and for the rich golden hue it imbues in dishes. The robes of Buddhist monks are saffron colored to evoke serenity, enlightenment, and equality. The Tasting Room and Grounds Saffron Fields Vineyard invites guests to an experience unlike any other at its new tasting room in the Willamette Valley’s Yamhill-Carlton AVA. Visitors will delight in the inspired, earth- friendly design, the serenity of the Japanese gardens and reflective ponds, the world-class modern art collection, and the chance to taste multiple winemakers’ interpretations of this highly sought-after vineyard’s fruit. Owners Angela Summers and Sanjeev Lahoti founded Saffron Fields with a unique vision for a winery experience. They have partnered with the best vineyard managers and winemakers to craft stunning, world-class wines, and have created a space worthy of showcasing them. Their goal is to provide a tasting experience that becomes a part of their guests’ personal narrative. The tasting room and grounds integrate with the surrounding vineyards to create an atmosphere of reflection and enlightenment. The Wines • 2012 harvest production: 600 cases of estate Pinot noir, 300 cases of Willamette Valley Pinot noir, 100 cases of Chardonnay and 60 of Riesling • Plans to expand total production to 3,000 cases in the next three years • Available for purchase through NW Wines to You, http://northwestwinestoyou.com/ • 2010 Saffron Fields Pinot noir – 92 pts Wine Enthusiast: “A lush mash-up of aromas running from mint to blackberry to cola. It’s a wine of power and finesse...with a long finish.” 90 pts Wine Spectator: “Light and refreshing, offering pretty plum and spice flavors set on an airy texture. Comes together on the finish, with a brush of tannins.” 90 pts International Wine Cellar: “Spice- and smoke-accented aromas of red berries, cherry and sassafras, juicy and supple in texture, very good clarity, silky tannins and gentle grip.” 89+ pts Wine Advocate: “Fresh elderberry and dark cherry, sassafras and resin, brown spices and candied citrus rind entertain the nose and palate in this juicy ... offering.
