Wisconsin's Wollersheim Winery's 2017 Dry Riesling was chosen as best white wine at a wine competition in San Bernardino, California.

According to a release, the 2018 Pacific Rim Wine Competition has more than 1,000 entries representing regions from the United States, Canada, Chile, Argentina, Italy, France, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

Professional judge Amy Wullally said Wollersheim's dry Riesling is a "fantastic example of the pedigree and attention to detail coming from the Midwest."

Wollersheim Winery was established in 1972. The vineyards are comprised of 27 acres of French-American hybrid grapes.

The dry riesling has had escalating recognition. It also won 2013 Wine of the Year at the San Diego International Wine Competition.

“This is an absolute thirst-quencher and folks that are not that familiar with Riesling or think they know riesling will be thankful they took the chance here,” Mullally said.
