Daou Winery To Launch ‘Patrimony’ In Harrods

Californian winery Daou Family Estates is launching its Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon label ‘Patrimony’ in Harrods.

A limited allocation of the 2016 vintage is being made available for the UK, being sold through Harrods and selected brokers at a price of £310 a bottle.

The wine comes from Daou Mountain in the Adelaida District of Paso Robles. The Cabernet Sauvignon is handpicked, passed through an optical sorting table and the wine is then made from only the free run juice which is fermented with wild yeasts.

The wine is aged for 30 months in French oak and a further year in barrel before release. Patrimony is the winery’s topmost label and is meant to be a pure expression of both Cabernet and Daou Mountain.

Co-founder and winemaker Daniel Daou said: “There is a relentlessness required to make a wine like Patrimony. No resource, not an ounce of effort is spared. But the soul of the wine comes from a delicate balancing act.”

Siobhan Irons, Harrods’ wine buyer, added: “We are very excited to launch this prestige release from the Daou Vineyards Estates. We identified a kindred spirit in the vision of the Daou brothers and their pursuit of excellence in selecting Daou Mountain for their vineyards, the perfect location for producing world class Cabernet. At Harrods we are constantly searching for the very best in every wine we source.”
