Called Avaline Sparkling, the 12% ABV “dry, refreshing” fizz is made from a trio of grapes traditionally used in the production of Cava – Xarel·lo, Macabeo and Parellada from Penedès

Produced by the family-run Raventós i Blanc, which famously left the Cava appellation to strike out on its own, the sparkler is made in the traditional method and spends 18 months on its lees.

Avaline chose to partner with Raventós i Blanc due to its focus on sustainability – its vineyards are certified biodynamic by Demeter.

Keen to lessen its impact on the environment, the estate uses horses instead of tractors to plough its vineyards and sheep in place of lawnmowers.

Marketed as a “clean” wine brand, Avaline’s white wine is made by fellow green-minded Catalonian producer Can Ràfols dels Caus, which is certified organic.

Its rosé, meanwhile, is made by Provence producer Mas de Cadenet.

“It is an honour to work with multi-generational winemakers of such acclaim to produce Avaline.
