Sommeliers Choice Awards 2023 Winners

2014 Classic from Raimes English Sparkling Wines Takes Home the Gold

Single Vineyard 2014 Vintage Classic wins the Gold Medal at a leading wine competition in London this year.

30/07/2018

At the first-ever London Wine Competition which held in London on March 8-9, 2018, Raimes English Sparkling Wines won a Gold medal for its Single Vineyard 2014 Vintage Classic. This gold medal is the ultimate seal of the approval in the global wine industry. Raimes English Sparkling Wines received this honour by scoring highly in three different and important categories: Quality, Value and Packaging.

The Goal of the London Wine Competition was to award and celebrate the wines that consumers actually want to buy and drink. All the other major wine competitions judge wines solely on the quality of what is in the bottle. The London Wine Competition has a different approach to this, they ask their judges to look at wines like the drinkers do.

2014 Classic is a carefully selected blend of the three classic varieties: 51% Chardonnay, 29% Pinot Noir, and 20% Pinot Meunier. This bottle is fermented in the traditional method, partly fermented and aged in barrels which give it a soft mousse. This 2014 vintage Classic is a well-balanced wine with a hint of stone fruit character. This delicious, easy drinking and elegant wine has a lovely appearance with the stream of fine bubbles in the glass. You can feel citrus fruits, green apple and some toasty background notes on the nose before perfectly balanced palate with green apple acidity.
