Tomintoul Launches 45-year-old Single Malt Scotch

Angus Dundee Distillers has released just 218 bottles of a 45-year-old Tomintoul single malt priced at £1,990 (US$2,626) – Tomintoul Vintage 1973 Double Wood Matured.

17/10/2018

The single malt was aged for more than three decades in white oak American casks before being further matured in oloroso Sherry casks.

The whisky is said to have aromas of orange citrus and Christmas pudding, leading to nuts, chocolate, mocha coffee bean and spicy oak tannins on the palate, with a dry and spicy finish.

Bottled at 44.5% abv, Tomintoul Vintage 1973 will be made available in select European and Asian markets.

his single malt has been selected not only because of its rarity of age but, very significantly, because it is the result of a careful “finishing” process by which our whisky began by resting for more than three decades of ageing in the finest white-oak American casks before being transferred into a hogshead cask originally used to mature Oloroso Sherry in Spain. Finally, after a generous period of time in Sherry wood it was deemed that the time was right to make it available to lovers of excellent whisky.

Available in selected European and Asian markets worldwide.
