Benromach Marks 20th Anniversary With New Whisky

Speyside’s Benromach distillery is celebrating 20 years since it was brought back into production with the release of a limited-edition bottling.

24/04/2018

The Benromach 20th Anniversary Bottling is made from liquid distilled in 1998 when the distillery reopened after lying mothballed for a number of years.

The single malt has been matured in first-fill oak casks in Benromach’s traditional dunnage warehouses. Only 3,000 bottles will be available globally, 400 of which will be available through Benromach’s visitor center.

“When we began distilling again in 1998, we wanted to recreate the unique Speyside whisky taste which historically had a touch of smoke,” said Keith Cruickshank, distillery manager at Benromach.

“This new expression gives Benromach lovers around the world the chance to own and taste a moment in time from the distillery’s rich history.”

Said to “epitomize Benromach’s classic style”, the bottling is presented in a lined wooden box with copper detailing and a hardback book.

Benromach 20th Anniversary Bottling is available worldwide from 23 April with an RRP of £299 (US$417) in the UK. International prices may vary.

The distillery was founded in 1898 and operated until 1983 when it was mothballed. Gordon & MacPhail acquired the site in 1993 and restarted production in 1998.
