Stroh's Releases Seasonal Spirit Witbier In Michigan

Motor City's newest beer will be celebrated with a "Slow Roll" bike ride on Aug. 6

25/07/2018

Bottling the essence of summer for Michiganders, Stroh Brewery Co. is releasing this month their newest Michigan-only brew, "Spirit Witbier." It's the third new recipe for Stroh's since the brand returned to Detroit in 2016 and follows the launch of Perseverance IPA earlier this year. This seasonal offering will be available through September 2018.

"Spirit Wit continues our tradition of celebrating the special people, places, and pride of Detroit in each of our locally-brewed beers," said Andy Gurjian, Stroh's Brand Manager. "The beer's label is inspired by The Fist monument to boxing legend Joe Louis in Detroit's Hart Plaza, while the beer's name reflects our dedication to highlighting the spirit of this great city we're honored to call home."

Launch Marked with Slow Roll by Stroh's

Stroh fans and Slow Roll members can join in welcoming Spirit Wit with a ceremonial Slow Roll by Stroh's ride on Monday, August 6, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. This edition of the iconic weekly bike ride through Detroit begins at Beacon Park - 1901 Grand River Avenue. Participants can cap off their ride with Stroh's at an after-party at Brew Detroit, where Spirit Wit is on tap.

At the event, each attendee will receive a raffle ticket to be entered into a drawing for the chance to win an A-Type bike from Detroit Bikes with custom "Spirit Wit" paintwork by local artist Zak Warmann of Detroit Sign Painters.

Third Detroit-Brewed Recipe

The flavors of coriander and the balanced addition of sweet and bitter orange peel make this pale, hazy wheat beer the perfect summer brew. Spirit Wit is brewed at Brew Detroit and contains 4.2% ABV.

The label representing the Monument of Joe Louis that is placed in the heart of Detroit perfectly complements Stroh's motto, "with the heart of a lion, and the strength of Detroit we are still here, still brewing."

Spirit Wit has begun shipping to independent beverage retailers throughout Michigan. It also will be available on draft and in 12 oz. bottles at select pubs. Learn more at StrohBeer.com.

ABOUT THE STROH BREWERY COMPANY

In 1848, during the German Revolution, Bernhard Stroh, having apprenticed at his father's side, immigrated to the United States. He established his own brewery in Detroit in 1850. Stroh originally named his new company Lion's Head Brewery, adopting the Lion's Crest logo from the Kyrburg Castle in Germany – the same crest that adorns Stroh beers today.  Over the years, Stroh's has become synonymous with the city of Detroit and strives to honor the creativity, determination, and hard work of its communities.  In 2016, Stroh's released its first new brew in decades, bringing back a treasured archival recipe for Stroh's Bohemian Style Pilsner.  Stroh's is owned by Pabst Brewing Company, America's largest independent brewer.  For more information, visit StrohBeer.com.
