Isn’t it great to be recognized as the best spirit among the hundreds of them? The Irishman Single Malt from Walsh Whiskey Distillery is currently enjoying this proud moment. This whiskey won a gold medal at the competition and was honoured with three special awards – Spirit of the Year, Whiskey of the Year and Best Spirit in Show by Country. Ireland would be feeling proud as the spirit representing the whole country won no less than four awards at the prestigious London Spirits Competition that held on March 8-9, 2018 in London.
The Irishman Single Malt is triple distilled and aged in Oak Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry Casks which gives it an exceptional flavour and complexity. This Single Malt has a fruity nose with juicy peach, dried apricot and tropical fruits. The hints of vanilla fudge and orange blossom make it more appetizing. The palate is full of vanilla sweetness, toasted almonds, granola, honey, a little oak, digestive biscuits, apricots and a hint of cocoa. The finish is long-lasting with a light maltiness and sweet oak.
The Walsh family is dedicated to playing a central role in the rejuvenation of Irish whiskey as one of the most enjoyed spirits of the world. The company Walsh Whiskey Distillery was formed in 1999 by Bernard and Rosemary. It was 2007 when they launched The Irishman Single Malt and the Irishman 70.
The Managing Director of the Walsh Whiskey Directory says, “We are naturally delighted as the London Spirits Competition is among the most prestigious and hotly contested awards programs. The proposition behind all our whiskeys is to offer very high-quality whiskeys at an affordable price. The Irishman – Single Malt is truly a rare breed, being a triple-distilled, Irish, single malt. As the judges have already discovered, it won’t disappoint.”
About the competition –
The London Spirits Competition was held on 8th and 9th of March this year. It has become the most relevant spirits competition in the world due to its philosophy of judging spirits. The competition does not assess the spirits based on their quality alone; rather it includes the criteria like the value of the spirit for its price and the packaging style. Judging spirits using these three key criteria, the London Spirits Competition makes sure that it is giving the world a spirit that is drinkable and good in quality, good looking and able to target a specific drinker and the value of the spirit is according to its price. After the huge success of 2018, the London Spirits Competition is all set to grab the attention of Spirits Industry again in 2019. The Competition will be held on March 21-22, 2019.
