Taste

A Classic Gin style with a rich complexity and a unique balance of Citrus and Spice notes

As you bring your nose to bear you immediately get sweet, fruity, floral notes, then the dry, powdery spice of cinnamon and cassia underneath; quite a seductive combination.

It’s hard to get too much taste from it neat but with a little water, immediately sweet orange peel and juniper start to emerge on the nose.

The palate is fruity/floral with a grapefruit-bitter finish and a chocolaty aftertaste

These sweet notes soften and open up when combined with Tonic to produce an almost floral nose and sugar plumb taste

Martin Edgerton Gill

Martin Edgerton Gill, has long been an entrepreneur in traditional English drinks, and is responsible for some of the things that now are very much part of British life. Like the teabag. He brought that innovation to the UK whilst working as Marketing Director at Brooke Bond, then one of the biggest names in tea. In 1978 he set up The London Herb and Spice Company which he sold to premier Brands for £5.5M in 1988 staying on with them as International Director until 1991.

Having made his fortune in tea, he turned his attention to that other quintessentially English beverage, gin and established The London Gin Company, selling gin to over 20 countries around the world. It was here he developed The London No.1, which he later sold to Gonzalez Byass, its Spanish distributor, after it made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.

In 2008 he founded Edgerton Distillers and in late 2010 released the first ever Pink London Dry Gin developed in conjunction with Charles Maxwell of Thames Distillers and his long-time friend Dr Stuart of Dr Stuarts Teas ‘the father of Modern Herbalism’.

Origin of Pink

Origins of Pink:

The colour pink is named after the flowers called pinks, flowering plants in the genus Dianthus.

The name derives from the frilled edge of the flowers—the verb "to pink" dates from the 14th century and means "to decorate with a perforated or punched pattern" (possibly from German "pinken" = to peck)

The word "pink" was first used as a noun to refer to the colour known today as pink in the 17th century. The verb sense of the word "pink" continues to be used today in the name of the hand tool known as pinking shears

The World’s first London Pink Gin owes is rosy hue to a delicate balance of colour added after distillation
