Company From: Singapore Looking for: Gin from:
East West Asia Singapore is supplying Craft Tequila to Cocktails bar, Dance Clubs, Restaurants, Hotels, Country Clubs and E Commence. I used to be the General Manager of Octopus Group/Diageo, I have been dealing with Singapore market for over 25 years in the FMCG (Alcohol & Spirits) distribution and Food & Beverage Operations. In the Singapore market I’m known as Mr Singleton as I had brought Singleton from bottom to 2nd best seller Single Malt and Ciroc from bottom to 3rd Vodka. My role in Octopus is responsible for strategic partnership with importers / distributors in South East Asia for the expansion of sales volume, brand and market share. 2017 I left Octopus for Platinum/Beam Suntory and my role is responsible for contributing to the achievement of the Divisional profit and volume goals by working directly with the Regional Principle team. Responsible for the development and execution of Singapore market strategy in the Modern On/Off Trade, Traditional Off Trade, CVS, P Mart, Ship chandelling and Cross Border Duty Free premise channel to drive performance and value creation. Presently we are also trading Asean region and China market. Most of products we deal for trading are Wines and mainstream brands spirits. As for Craft Gin, Rum and Single Malt, we are selling Singapore Vietnam, Indoesia, Myanmar, Thailand and Malaysia. I m looking for Craft Gin, Rum and Single Malt/Whisky which I can distribute in Singapore, Asean region and China market. There is lots of craft brand spirits such as rum and gin have seen blistering growth in volumes. The bespoke and cocktail bar in Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Myanmar, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Indonesia do prefer to use craft Gin and Rum which they produce on a more unique taste note. Since 2014, gin volumes in Singapore have risen more than 40 per cent, wheras overall liquor volumes grew just 5 per cent in the same period. Whisky volumes, in comparison, grew 4.8 per cent in line with the overall trend - though they are five times that of gin. In a market so heavily driven by on-premise consumption, the composition of the drinking scene is key. While statistics on liquor licences are not publicly available, industry players say the era of bars is upon us. "More bars are looking for more niche products: the craft spirits. And Hotels and restaurants are also trying to catch up " The reputation of Singapore's cocktail bars is a big draw for artisanal brands, with so many high-quality cocktail bars in Singapore, artisanal producers now "expect to be in those kinds of outlets". "It always starts from the Singapore market. Singapore has that beacon effect in the region. You have to make it big in Singapore first." Besides, the most important thing in the craft world is "the relationship we have with our suppliers". Nonetheless, seeing a growing demand for craft gin, vodka and Single Malt, East West started looking at "less commercial stuff". The trend for craft spirits is very important, and big corporates are trying to innovate, which is good. ... For many of us, we move also into craft through some small acquisitions. We are also benefiting (from the trend)."
