Leading wine competitions in Asia
Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition
The Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition is a unique event and the first of its kind. Run in partnership with the London-based International Wine & Spirit Competition, which has been running for 40 years and is the world’s premier platform for recognising quality in the industry, the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition is created specifically for the Asian market by those who know and are intimately involved in the region.
It is the first truly Asian wine competition in the world, supported by key factors such as: Chinese food and wine pairing awards; an award for Best Wine produced in China; and judging will be conducted by Asia’s most esteemed wine judges from China, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and India – including the competition’s Director and Master of Wine, Hong Kong-based Debra Meiburg MW and Chinese food and wine expert Simon Tam.
Sommelier India Wine Competition

The competition will be judged by a prestigious panel of nationally respected wine experts. The judging will be based on a blind, consensual procedure under the expert guidance of the well-known wine critic and writer, Steven Spurrier, ensuring that excellence is recognized and rewarded.
The Sommelier India Wine Competition in association with The Wine Society of India is scheduled forNovember 19 and 20, 2009 at ITC Grand Central, Parel, Mumbai.
Japan Wine Challenge
The Japan Wine Challenge was set up in 1997 as an independent wine competition, showing the wine world that Japan is a vibrant wine market to be taken seriously. During this time we have grown in scale and scope to the point where we are the most prestigious and respected wine competition in Asia.
Over the last 16 years we have established a solid partnership with many of the world's leading wine education bodies, notably the wines and spirits education trust, the Institute of Masters of Wine, Bettane & Desseauve Guide, San Francisco International Wine Competition. Indeed, education, both in the form of on-going tertiary wine education for Japan's leading wine professionals, and developing consumer awareness and understanding for wine in Japan, continues to lie at the heart of our effort. Key to this is the excellence of our panel of international and local judges - over the years we have taken great pleasure in watching this cadre of true wine professionals gain in confidence and stature, to the benefit of all concerned. We continue to be associated with the JWC Madame Bollinger Foundation Award which provides for the top Japanese judge to attend the IOMW's summer school in Australia or Napa.
