Japan Wine Challenge

Japan Wine Challenge

The Japan Wine Challenge was set up in 1997 as an independent wine competition, showing the wine world that Japan is a vibrant wine market to be taken seriously. During this time we have grown in scale and scope to the point where we are the most prestigious and respected wine competition in Asia.

Over the last 16 years we have established a solid partnership with many of the world's leading wine education bodies, notably the wines and spirits education trust, the Institute of Masters of Wine, Bettane & Desseauve Guide, San Francisco International Wine Competition. Indeed, education, both in the form of on-going tertiary wine education for Japan's leading wine professionals, and developing consumer awareness and understanding for wine in Japan, continues to lie at the heart of our effort. Key to this is the excellence of our panel of international and local judges - over the years we have taken great pleasure in watching this cadre of true wine professionals gain in confidence and stature, to the benefit of all concerned. We continue to be associated with the JWC Madame Bollinger Foundation Award which provides for the top Japanese judge to attend the IOMW's summer school in Australia or Napa.
